About Me

Rebecca Rollason parent support practitioner

My name is Rebecca Rollason, I created SEND a friend to help parents in need. I was one of them - I've been burnt out, Isolated and felt like a failure as a parent. I needed a helping hand and some guidance but there was none to be found. I decided to educate myself and become that support for other parents in need.

What  hands on lived experience do I have? â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹

Firstly I have 30+ years of personal lived experience with neurodivergence (ADHD & autism). I am also a mum to two young children with autism. My son is non-speaking, has global developmental delay and also ARFID. My daughter is hyperverbal and has pathological demand avoidance. It's safe to say that when I was pregnant with my first child I didn't envision this future of meltdowns, physical assaults, safe foods, sensory issues and demand avoidance. Nor did I think I would spend years going to weekly appointments like speech therapy, occupational therapy, sensory seekers etc. but that is the reality of being an autism parent.

Many times I've been burnt out, lonely or if I'm being really honest wished I didn't exist at all because I felt like there was no end in sight to this constant stress.

Who is SEND a friend for?

Any parents of young autistic children who feel that they need some guidance or support. I've tried to make it available to as many families as possible by offering:

- Session times in the mornings, evenings and Saturdays

- Free initial calls and personalised action plans

- No increase in charge for sessions in your own home

- No travel time costs in West Sussex

- Low prices (I wish I could do it for free but sadly I'm not in that position)
