Example Service
A fictional example of our services.
1. Phone call

Lucy is struggling with her mental health, she feels overwhelmed and burnt out and decides to contact SEND a friend for some support. She isn't really sure what support she needs but she is struggling to cope with her autistic daughter.

I meet with Lucy in her home and we have a chat about her challenges. It becomes apparent that she is struggling with her mental health and burn out. I observe Lucy and her daughter interacting and witness her daughter exhibiting challenging behaviour. We talk about how she would like to be supported and what could make her stress more manageable in the future. I explain that after the session I will create a free personalised action plan outlining how SEND a friend could help to support her.
2. Initial Meeting
3. Action Plan
Using the notes from our initial meeting I put together an action plan that consists of three hour long sessions to address her mental wellness, burnout and communication with her daughter. I have also included one thirty minute session for her debrief. I email the action plan alongside our client consent form.
4. Sessions
Session 1: Mental Wellness & Burnout
* Discussion of worries and fears and what she wants to try to change
* Education around mental wellness and burnout
* Discuss techniques that could work for her
* Guide her in how to implement the changes in
her everyday life.
* Answer any questions
Session 2 : Communication
* Discuss what she is struggling with and how she would like communication with her daughter
* Educate on different techniques and services
available to help with communication
* Model options with Lucy and daughter
* Check understanding and receive feedback
* Answer any questions
Session 3 : Communication continued
* Discuss what worked well from last week
* Discuss other techniques or thoughts
* Model the techniques with Lucy and observe her interacting with her daughter
* Check understanding and give feedback
* Check if Lucy feels confident or requires further support
* Book in debrief
5. Debrief
The online debrief session is booked for a week later to give Lucy time to start to implement the changes that we have spoken about. Within that week I will create a summary of the full service that you have received. This includes what we have spoken about in sessions and what the outcomes were as well as any information on external services such as Speech Therapy or Portage. During the debrief I will have a chat with Lucy about how things have been and if there have been any improvements (keeping in mind that it has only been a week). If Lucy is happy with her progress and doesn't need any further support then I will end our session and send her final report via email.
